Propecia is a hairloss drug used to treat male-pattern baldness. Male-pattern baldness occurs when there is a progressive miniaturisation of the hair follicle, resulting in finer and shorter hair.

Eventually, this process results in a miniature follicle with no hair. The causes are of hairloss are associated with hormone inbalances and a genetic predisposition.Despite the miniaturisation of the follicle, it remains alive and theoretically hair could grow again. The typical pattern of baldness starts with loss at the hairline, gradually taking shape into an 'M' pattern, and culminating in a 'horseshoe' of hair around the sides of the head.

Propecia is taken as a single daily tablet and is sold in boxes of 28 tablets and 84 tablets.

Side-effects of Propecia

Like any medicine, Propecia may have unintended or unwanted effects. These are uncommon and do not affect most men. A small number of men may experience less desire to have sex and/or difficulty in achieving an erection. These affects usually disappear in men who stop taking Propecia and in many men who continue treatment.
